A SAMHSA sponsored webinar presented by the National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors Research Institute (NRI) took place Monday, August 12, 2024 from 12:00-1:30pm Eastern Time titled “Innovative Initiatives to Serve the Needs of Older Adults with Serious Mental Illness”.
Description: This webinar opened with an overview of the demographics of older adults in the United States and numbers currently being served by state mental health systems. The webinar then introduced possible intervention points for services for older adults with serious mental illness. It focused on the coordination of such services within and across regions of a state and how to fund coordination. It discussed the process to determine need for a specific intervention as well as how to plan, enact, and fund interventions for older adults with serious mental illness. This webinar also covered older adult services within the crisis system. It was illustrated by examples from Oregon.
