The National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors (NASMHPD) is pleased to announce its partnership with the Real Warriors Campaign. NASMHPD's Executive Director Dr. Robert Glover said, "We are excited about this partnership because of our mutual mission of helping service members, families, and behavioral healthcare providers."

On May 21, 2009, the Defense Centers of Excellence for Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury (DCoE) launched a public awareness initiative to encourage help-seeking behavior among service members and veterans coping with invisible wounds.

The campaign features Real Warriors who reached out for psychological support or care with successful outcomes, including learning coping tools, maintaining their security clearance and continuing to succeed in their military or civilian careers. These Real Warriors are proving through example that reaching out is a sign of strength that benefits the entire military community. The campaign web site includes video profiles and public service announcements featuring these Real Warriors, as well as articles, promotional and educational materials, and resources for members of the military community.

Through the Outreach Center, health resource consultants can direct users to resources in their local community and answer questions about invisible wounds.
