Gerald (Jud) DeLoss represents health care clients with a particular focus on behavioral health care providers, health information technology (HIT) solution providers, federally qualified health centers (FQHCs), physicians, hospitals and research organizations, as well as industry trade and professional associations.
Jud has extensive knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH, electronic health records (EHRs), behavioral health privacy, and telehealth requirements. He regularly represents telehealth and medical technology startups and solutions providers.
He guides behavioral health care and other providers on reimbursement under Medicaid, Medicare, grant funding, private insurance, and managed care. To support his clients’ positions, Jud has developed a unique understanding and experience with the federal Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act as well as Illinois Parity Law. He also counsels providers on strategic acquisitions, along with preparation and negotiation of joint venture and merger agreements.
Jud has written articles and presented on health law issues nationally and internationally, including on health information privacy and security and other compliance matters. His peers at the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA) have recognized him nationally as the leading behavioral healthcare attorney. He is an active member of AHLA where he has served as Chair of the Health Information and Technology Practice Group, Chair of the Behavioral Health Task Force, and the Quality Council to the AHLA Board of Directors.
