| From 2000 to 2007 and over the course of two contracts with the federal Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS), the Targeted Technical Assistance project provided state-of-the-art policy analysis and technical assistance to multiple stakeholders in state public mental health systems. During these 7 years, the National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors (NASMHPD) and its six subcontractors completed over 350 on-site technical assistance activities in all 50 states, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, and the Pacific Territories, and produced 63 documents. Drawing on a network of policy experts available through our seven leading national mental health organizations, the Targeted Technical Assistance project delivered written analysis and on-site training and technical assistance on a range of policy issues related to Transformation and specifically, the implementation of the recommendations of the President’s New Freedom Commission on Mental Health.
NASMHPD’s partners and subcontractors for this successful project were: the Judge David L. Bazelon Center for Mental Health Law, the Federation of Families for Children’s Mental Health, the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI), the National Association of Mental Health Planning and Advisory Councils (NAMHPAC), the National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare (NCCBH), and the National Mental Health Association (NMHA). Our seven organizations having the expertise and access to the nation’s leading experts in mental health policy at the state and federal levels, together in partnership with CMHS, have helped to make Transformation a reality. |
