NASMHPD’s Office of Government Relations works closely with our members and consults with the mental health community to develop a policy agenda that supports state mental health agencies and the public mental health delivery system. To promote this agenda, the NASMHPD Office of Government Relations engages members of Congress and their staff, as well as key federal agencies.

The NASMHPD Research Institute, Inc. (NRI), our affiliate for data collection, analysis, and reporting, maintains several key databases on the organization and operation of state mental health agencies. These databases can be used to provide empirical support for policy development and program planning.
