NASMHPD Prevention Center's webinar on Triple P
This presentation focuses on the Triple P (Positive Parenting Program) framework and how it can provide a vehicle that unites the effort of being champions for children, parents, and families. Dr. Prinz talks about a two-pronged approach: use evidence-based programs to mitigate trauma; and adopt a public health approach for prevention. He also emphasizes a public-health approach to parenting/family support for blended prevention opportunities, combining universal, selected, and indicated prevention, as well as treatment. The presenter discusses how Triple P offers a de-stigmatized approach to achieve multiple goals with the same system of parenting interventions, while also striving for a reduction in the prevalence of childhood adverse events and mental health problems.
