VLI, BHTalk SAMHSA’s Online Learning Community

The Virtual Learning Institute (VLI), the learning community of SAMHSA’s Promoting Alternatives to Seclusion and Restraint through Trauma-Informed Practices, utilizes BHTalk (http://bhtalk.org/) as its technology platform.

Within BHTalk, VLI has established the group “Community Dedicated to Trauma Informed Practices and Seclusion and Restraint Prevention.” This group is open to any person or organization. This learning community is a forum to share ideas, ask and answer questions, and exchange resources. There is a page for announcements regarding upcoming trainings, meetings and other activities that may be of interest to you. The resource page is used as the repository of forms and other helpful information you can use in your work.

VLI also hosts webinars for SAMHSA’s Promoting Alternatives to Seclusion and Restraints through Trauma Informed Practices. Webinar recordings and powerpoints are posted in the Forum section of our BHTalk group. We also have a question and answer section within each webinar forum where individuals can post questions or comments and the webinar presenters or other interested individuals can respond.

To register for BHTalk and join our group:

  • You can click on the bhtalk link above and register. After registering for bhtalk, then find the group "Community Dedicated to Trauma Informed Practices and Seclusion and Restraint Prevention" and request to be a member of the group.
  • Alternatively, you can copy the group link below into your browser. Once bhtalk opens up, it will require you to register first before becoming a member of the group. Essentially the same process as above. Community Dedicated to Trauma Informed Practices and Seclusion and Restraint Prevention
