NASMHPD's webinar on Promoting Integrated Care Approaches for Addressing the Whole Health Needs of Persons with Behavioral Health Disorders

There has been a growing awareness in recent years that persons with serious mental illness face an increased risk for early mortality, largely because of preventable physical health concerns.  These physical health care concerns need to be addressed, and ideally they should be addressed simultaneously with a person's behavioral health concerns. This approach has become increasingly important as practitioners now recognize that one’s physical health affects one’s mental health, and subsequently one’s ability to move forward in recovery. Finding the best ways to integrate care, however, is still challenging for administrators, practitioners, consumers, and others. Benjamin Druss, MD, a nationally recognized expert on integrated care, presents a webinar that discusses the scope, causes, and potential solutions for addressing this key public health issue.
